Court arrests Gazprom Dutch assets to pay $2.6 bln to Naftogaz

KIEV, Jun 5 (PRIME) -- A Dutch court has arrested local assets of Russian gas giant Gazprom to pay U.S. $2.6 billion to Naftogaz Ukrainy under a Stockholm court ruling, the Ukrainian company said in a statement Tuesday.

“Last week, Naftogaz Ukrainy filed a motion to arrest Gazprom’s stakes in its Dutch subsidiaries and debts of Gazprom’s subsidiaries. The application was filed to secure the rights to receive $2.6 billion from the Russian monopoly under the Stockholm arbitration court decision taken in February 2018,” Naftogaz Ukrainy said.

“The Dutch court granted these motions, but six out of seven subsidiaries of Gazprom in the Netherlands refused to cooperate with court officials. But this will not affect the arrest.”

Court executors are also “taking actions” to freeze Gazprom’s stakes in Nord Stream AG and Nord Stream-2 AG, Naftogaz Ukrainy said.
